Author's Summary[]
Patrick Twycross attends a ball in honor of the engagement of Duchess Dianda Lorden.[1]
Plot[]
Since he met Duchess Dianda Lorden of Saltmist, Patrick Twycross has been hopelessly smitten. In order to take his mind off his troubles, he spends most of his time in his workshop and tending the needs of his flock of pixies. One evening, his friend Simon Torquill convinces him to get out of his workshop, put on some decent clothes, and attend a party. Patrick reluctantly agrees before he finds out that the party is to celebrate Duchess Lorden's engagement. Once at the party, he finds Simon has arranged for him to escort Treasa Riordan, a bold, scheming, and dangerous Duchess. Patrick escapes the dance floor to the kitchen, where he and Dianda clear up several misunderstandings.
