At the time of Toby's arrival, the real Nessa had been replaced by a Doppelganger. Toby was able to realise something was off about Nessa during her presentation to the High King's Court, and was able to unveil the identity of the Doppelganger. The real Nessa is eventually found, although the glamour keeping her fatal beauty concealed has faded. The Luidaeg has to conceal her face in an illusion to prevent her from accidentally killing anyone.
She accidentally finds out that Oberon is in attendance from a slip-up by the Luidaeg, who in turn alters her memory so she can't recount her encounter with Oberon.

Quentin Sollys[]
Quentin and Nessa are remarkably close, with Quentin remarking that Nessa filled the void that his parents left. Their bond was so strong that he was able to realise that Nessa may have been replaced.
