Author's Summary[]
Poor Tybalt. Things just never seem to get that much easier. He's happy in Armorica, but will it ever be "home"? What is he going to do with his changeling ward? And what is the neighboring kingdom planning?
Things are getting awkward again, as we move toward his inevitable departure from what we always knew would be a temporary exile...
Plot []
Seventeen years have passed since Tybalt broke the curse upon the Daoine Sidhe and Cait Sidhe of Amorica. He has been ruling as King of Silvered Cats, with Rozenn as his ward and foster-daughter.
Rozenn wakes by pulling the blanket out from under his feline form and tartly tells him Morane's Court is gathering. He is amused to realized she has picked up human slang from her lover Naig, another changeling in the court.
He arrives to discover that Duke Budoc, Rozenn's birth father, is visiting court with news of her mother's death. Budoc wishes to see Rozenn and offer her use of a hope chest to become fully fae. Morane and Tybalt leave him to talk privately about the matter before informing Rozenn, and speak of the history of the hope chests.
Rozenn and Naig join them, and the four discuss the situation, debating the duke's intentions. Neither Naig nor Roznn wish to become purebloods, wishing to hold on to what their human parent gave them. None of the four trust Budoc.
Tybalt decides to visit Privela and learn more of the supposed hope chest the Kingdom of Albion possesses.
