The Kingdom of Ash and Oak is a former sub-kingdom in the Westlands and was located in the New York City area. It was ruled by Absalom Shallcross and his consort Vesper Shallcross.
About[]
The Kingdom of Ash and Oak was once a thriving Fae kingdom. However, as the Industrial Revolution came in and the integration of iron ore in building many of the skyscrapers and buildings that now make up New York became widespread, it became inhabitable to the pureblood fae and even strong changelings, leaving it to be only inhabited by thinbloods and merlins.
History[]
Tybalt and Anne had briefly lived in the Kingdom of Ash and Oak prior to the Industrial Revolution. The Divided Courts there - under the Shallcross royal family - were very unaccepting of mortals, changelings and bestial fae, and as a result Anne had died due to their refusal to treat her while she was pregnant with Tybalt's child.
Evening Winterrose used her alias - Vesper - to marry into the Shallcross royal family with Absalom, who had been King at the time. She did this hoping she would end up High Queen when Absalom petitioned for the High Throne against Oakley Sollys. However, the Industrial Revolution occured - and humans inevitably applied iron into their construction of New York, saturating the entire territory in iron so potent that pureblooded fae and strong changelings couldn't safely inhabit the Kingdom without succumbing to acute iron poisoning. Because of this, Absalom lost his petiton for High King to Oakley, and Evening left him as a result.
