Isla Chase was the clan leader of the Chase Clan of Selkies, who live in Belle Fleuve. She was the sister of René Lefebvre, husband of fellow clan leader Mathias Lefebvre.
René was initially meant to be the leader of the Chase Clan, but Isla stepped in when René wanted to marry Mathias. Although Isla was sympathetic to Liz when she discovered the truth of the Luidaeg, she was very open about her contempt towards Elizabeth for her prior relationship with the Luidaeg, which was seen among the other clan leaders as a form of favouritism when Elizabeth gained the remaining Lost Skins.[1]
Isla was murdered by her lover, Torin of Bluefish, who drowned her after stealing her selkie pelt. Her death was traumatic enough that Toby was unable to discern any information to who killed her.[2] Her pelt is the first one to be divided up in order to increase the amount of potential Roane before the binding.
