Author's Summary[]

This month, we're returning to the Undersea for another look at how the Lordens are doing, as their newest member (August, taking the title by about fifteen minutes) tries to adjust to life beneath the sea, and having younger siblings.

But there's something going on with the Roane, and it looks as if the political makeup of the Undersea may be shifting soon...hopefully for the better.

Plot []

Three days after her arrive in Undersea, August finds her new stepbrother Peter both charming and quite annoying. He wakes her up with news that a Roane delegation is visiting Saltmist to discuss the potential fallout of transferring their allegiance from the Land Courts to the Undersea. They also discuss Peter's difficulty with transformation magic, split as he is between his Merrow and Daoine Sidhe heritages.

After meeting the delegates, August is dismissed along with Peter from the proceedings. Later, they are caught up by Rene Levebvre, who is also less vital to the discussions. He describes the political structures and challenges of the Atlantic coast politics between land and sea.

Afterward, August reassures Peter that she is not trying to abandon him, just get used to the company after so much time in Annwn. They part for the night on better terms.
