Hierarchy[]

Greater Realm > Elemental Division > High Kingdom > Kingdom > Duchies, Counties, Baronies, and Fiefdoms

Greater Realms[]

The greater realms were created by the Three Creators of Faerie and their Firstborn. All of them except the Summerlands were lost to the inhabitants of Faerie when the Three disappeared around the sixteenth century.[1]

  • Heart of Faerie: The deepest realm of Faerie, sealed by Oberon before he disappeared.
  • Summerlands: The only Faerie land still accessible after Oberon sealed the majority of realms. It is the closest to the human world.
  • Emain Ablach[7]
  • Caer Sidi:[8] Likely a holding, not a realm, according to Celtic folklore[9]. Referenced by Etienne.

The Summerlands[]

The Land Kingdoms[]

The majority of fae belong to the land kingdoms, which is the most hospitable terrain. Freshwater fae also belong to the land kingdoms, mostly due to the difficulty of uniting disparate freshwater sources.[citation needed]

Undersea[]

Containing all the world's seas and oceans, Undersea exists deep enough that they need not fear dawn's habit of breaking illusions. Though far deeper than humans have managed to reach, the fae there decorate using shipwrecked goods and imported inventions when it suits them.[16]

Sea fae tend to either be water-breathers with gills, or have magical abilities that allow them to breathe beneath the surface without interruption, such as the Roane's ability to manipulate air bubbles. Selkies, who must surface to breathe, are a notable exception, which may contribute to their lesser status among other fae.[17]

It is unknown whether they have high kingdoms as the land fae do.

Oversky[]

Few fae not of the air have visited Oversky, as it exists ephemeral among the clouds. As the air exists over all land and sea, the kingdoms of Oversky exist above their earthbound cousins. Oversky fae occasionally come down to participate in politics of the land.[20]

Fire Kingdoms[]

Little is known of the Fire Kingdoms since they are utterly inhospitable to all but the fire fae, such as Salamanders, Kesali, Teine Sith and Djinn. They include areas such as the interior of active volcanoes.[21] This makes it unattractive to even some of those who would be able to live there.

Snow Kingdoms[]

Briefly mentioned in Ashes of Honor.
